Big fire in Canada – level 2

31-07-2014 15:00

A big fire broke out in an industrial complex in Canada. The fire erupted around midnight when barrels with flammable liquids inside exploded.

About 75 firefighters and 24 fire trucks came to the scene. They evacuated residents close to the fire.

The 100 year-old building housed several auto body shops. The fire damaged many cars. Some firefighters received treatment for being hurt, but no one else was hurt.

Difficult words: industrial complex (area where people do work with big machines or many chemicals), flammable liquid (thing that looks like water but can burn), auto body shop (shop which repairs the outer parts of a car), treatment (helping somebody who is not well or is hurt).

You can read the original story and watch the video in the Level 3 section.

Have you seen a great fire?
