British TV presenter is missing – level 3

The search for missing British television presenter Michael Mosley on the Greek island of Symi has been ongoing for several days.

The effort is now concentrated on water-filled tunnels in a rocky area near the coastal town of Agia Marina, known locally as the abyss. Mosley was last seen on CCTV footage in the nearby village of Pedi on Wednesday afternoon. Authorities have found no evidence that he left the island. Britain’s Foreign Office is in touch with Greek authorities regarding the search.

Mosley is famous in Britain for his TV and radio appearances, as well as his column in the Daily Mail. He is also known for his 2013 book The Fast Diet and its 5:2 diet plan. Friends and colleagues have expressed their concern for his safety, especially for his wife Clare, and their children. Mosley was nominated for an Emmy in 2002 for his work on the BBC documentary The Human Face.

Difficult words: abyss (a very deep space or cavity), column (a piece of writing in a newspaper or magazine that is written by the same person and appears regularly).
