Chinese Embassy in India – level 3

12-03-2018 07:00

Members of the Tibetan Youth Congress attempted to enter the Chinese embassy in New Delhi, India ahead of the Tibetan National Uprising Day on 10th March.

In 1950, China occupied Tibet and suppressed an independence revolt 9 years later. China claims that Tibet has been part of its territory for centuries while Tibetans say that the Himalayan region was virtually independent until the Chinese occupation.

Difficult words: congress (a political organisation), attempt (try), suppress (stop), claim (say).
