David Hockney is a very famous British artist. He dies one month before his 89th birthday. Many people think that he is one of the best and most important artists in the world.

He becomes popular in the 1960s. He makes beautiful and happy pictures. Hockney loves bright colors and paints many beautiful swimming pools with water and sun. He also likes new technology. He makes colorful art on his iPad. In 2018, somebody buys one of his pool paintings for nearly 70 million pounds.

Hockney is born in a small house. He works hard all his life. He paints every day because it makes him happy.

Difficult words: birthday (the day when you are born), bright (a very strong, clear color), colorful (when something has many bright and beautiful colors).
