Drones in the USA – level 2

01-05-2019 15:00

Alphabet is Google’s parent company which also works with drones. It wants to use drones for deliveries, and it tested drones for this in Australia.

The company carried out 70,000 test flights, and more than 3,000 deliveries. After such testing, the FAA (a part of the American government, which controls flying in the USA) approved the drones in the USA. Now Alphabet will begin tests in Virginia, an American state.

This is a big moment for Alphabet, but also for everybody who wants to use drones.

Difficult words: parent company (the company which owns another company), delivery (when you phone somebody to buy something, or buy something on the Internet, somebody or something moves it to you – which is called a delivery), approve (say that something can happen).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
