Dubai influencers post similar messages – level 3

The conflict between the US, Israel, and Iran has also affected the United Arab Emirates. Some Iranian missiles targeted parts of the country, including an area near Palm Jumeirah in Dubai, although defense systems stopped most of them.

During the first days of the conflict, many influencers based in Dubai posted messages about safety and trust in the country’s leadership. Journalists analyzed more than one hundred social media posts from influencers and noticed unusual patterns. Many posts used almost identical wording and repeated phrases about strong air defense, safety, and national stability. In several cases, influencers posted very similar messages within seconds or minutes of each other.

The posts also received unusually high engagement, such as views, likes, and shares. Experts say this can happen naturally during major events, but it may also result from coordinated promotion or automated accounts. Influencers play an important role in the UAE economy, but strict laws control online content and punish posts that spread information authorities consider false.

Difficult words: pattern (something that repeats in the same way), engagement (interaction such as likes or shares online), coordinated (organized so people act together in a planned way).
