EU rules on social media – level 2
16-02-2026 07:00
Many European countries are thinking about limits on social media for children. The head of the EU supports a common age limit.
In France, the government plans a ban for children under 15, and the president supports this idea. Some other countries want parents to agree or want to limit some apps. Politicians say social media can hurt children’s health. They say it can cause sleep problems and poor attention. They think companies make money from young users and don’t keep them safe. New laws can make companies check age and change their systems.
An expert says a ban is not the best thing to do. He says children need communication with friends. He wants stricter rules for companies instead.
Difficult words: common (the same for everyone), ban (an official rule that says you cannot do something), attention (careful thinking or focus on something ).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
