Fake Charlie Hebdo cover – level 2
14-07-2025 07:00
Someone shared a fake cover of the French magazine Charlie Hebdo on social media. It showed LGBT people in Moldova pushing away a priest. The message said Moldova chose a new religion, but this was not true.
The real magazine cover had a different topic. This fake cover was used to attack Moldova’s Pride event and support pro-Russian ideas. Another false information was about a protest in Chișinău. Police didn’t stop it. The protest group tried to break police lines, and the police stopped them in a fair way.
The EU team that checks false news said these stories try to make people hate LGBT rights. They use lies to say that Christian values are under attack. But many LGBT people believe in God and see no problem with Christian values.
Difficult words: fake (not real), priest (a person who leads religious services and helps people in a church), in fact (a phrase which we use to show that something is true).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
How did the police handle protesters who attempted to break their lines in Chișinău?
