German companies in trouble – level 1

16-05-2025 15:00

A factory in Germany makes fertilizer. It is very old. It works for over 100 years. Now it has big problems. The factory needs energy to work. But energy is too expensive now. Because of this, the factory makes less. It also does not make money.

Other factories in Germany also have problems. They make less than before. Some people stop working. They lose their jobs. This is very hard. The leaders in Germany want to help. They want to give money to the factories. But we do not know if it will help or not.

Germany makes many things. It makes machines, clothes, and steel. Germany is small, but it makes more than some big countries. People want to keep these jobs and grow the workforce.

Difficult words: fertilizer (a substance which helps plants grow), energy (power for homes and factories), steel (a hard and strong silver metal).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

Why have factories in Germany been reducing output and causing job losses?
