Good Night, and Good Luck – level 1

09-04-2025 07:00

The show Good Night, and Good Luck is on Broadway. It makes a lot of money in one week.

A famous actor, George Clooney, is in the show. It is his first time on Broadway. The show is about a man on TV. His name is Edward R. Murrow. He does not like what a US senator named McCarthy says. It happens in the 1950s. McCarthy says that many people are bad, but it is not true.

The show says that it is good to tell the truth. It shows how TV news can help people. The story is from many years ago, but it is still important today. People still talk about the truth and the news.

Difficult words: Broadway (a famous place in New York for theater shows), truth (what is real or right), important (something people should care about).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

How does Edward R. Murrow's confrontation with Senator McCarthy illustrate the importance of honest television news and its lasting impact?
