Incident at the White House – level 1

27-05-2016 07:00

A man walks to the White House in the USA. He is in his mid-20s. He has a gun. He is not trying to hide it. People can see it easily. Police officers come. They shoot the man. They wound him critically.

The White House locks down. Police stop traffic. Police check the cars. All of this is like from a Hollywood movie.

President Obama is not in the White House when this happens. Vice-president Joe Biden is. We do not know about the President’s family.

Difficult words: hide (to cover something so people cannot see it), wound (to be hurt), critically (seriously), lock down (to protect, to let no one in or out, to close completely).

You can read the original story and watch the video in the Level 3 section.
