It is too hot in Europe – level 1

30-06-2026 07:00

Europe is very hot right now. Many countries are breaking old summer records. Germany has a historic day with over 41 degrees Celsius.

This hot weather is dangerous for people. In France, officials stop big music parties on the streets because of the heat. In the Netherlands, big electric buses do not work, so people can not travel. Weather experts say that hot air from the south stays under a big dome. The hot air cannot go away, so even the nights are very warm. Now, this hot weather is moving to more countries in the east.

Difficult words: record (the best, highest, or lowest number or result ever), historic (something what happens for the first time), dome (a round shape like the top half of a ball or a large bowl turned upside down).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

How did officials in France and the Netherlands respond to the dangerous heat?
