Lacrosse returns to the Olympics – level 2

Lacrosse is one of the oldest sports in North America, and it is now the fastest-growing team sport in the world. It will be in the 2028 Olympics, the first time in more than 100 years.
The sport is growing quickly in the US, and now, people play it in more than 90 countries. A new professional league, PLL, began in 2018 and later joined with Major League Lacrosse. An American sports TV now shows games and invests in both men’s and women’s lacrosse.
Still, the sport has problems. Lacrosse costs a lot because players need special equipment. Many top players come from rich towns and universities, and most fans are very wealthy. Although there are 48 million fans, TV ratings are small. Experts say the sport must grow outside of its rich image to become popular.
