Malayan Tiger Cubs Born – level 3

01-12-2017 07:00

Two Malayan tiger cubs were born at Prague Zoo, which was rare as this subspecies of tiger does not breed successfully in captivity. Only two other European zoos succeeded in breeding these tigers. One part of the problem is that the males are too aggressive with the females.

The keeper of the cubs is optimistic about their survival. The zoo says that the 11-year-old mother, Banya, and her cubs are all doing well.

There are just a few hundred Malayan tigers living in the wild in Asia.

Difficult words: subspecies (a specific type of an animal).
