Meta’s smart glasses show too much – level 2

20-03-2026 07:00

More than seven million people bought Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses last year. Many people use smart glasses to record videos and talk to AI. These glasses look normal, but they have a hidden camera.

A new report says that workers in Africa watch many of these private videos. They see people in their homes and even see credit card details. This is a big problem for privacy. Meta says they try not to show people’s faces in the videos, but the workers say they can still see many people. Most users don’t know that strangers watch their videos. They think only the AI looks at the data.

Now, the government in the UK and some people in the USA want answers. They say Meta must be honest about their rules. People should be careful when using these glasses.

Difficult words: hidden (something that you cannot see easily), private (something that is only for you or a small group of people, and not for everyone else to see or know), privacy (the right to keep your personal life and information secret from other people or companies).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What do workers in Africa reportedly see when they view videos recorded by users of these smart glasses?
