New Delhi Smog – level 2

11-11-2019 07:00

India’s capital, New Delhi, is among the 10 dirtiest cities in the world.

Currently, there is an emergency because of smog. Farmers caused this problem because they burned unused crops, and people celebrated a festival of lights with many fireworks.

A New Delhi’s official says that the situation is very dangerous for people. The air is very dirty and it is difficult to breathe. Besides all this, people can have high blood pressure or get a heart attack.

Officials lowered the number of cars on roads, closed schools, and asked people to stay at home.

Difficult words: smog (very dirty air which looks like fog), crops (plants that farmers grow in fields), heart attack (a state when a heart stops working properly).
