Pakistan says no to India match – level 2

10-02-2026 07:00

Pakistan joins the T20 World Cup, but it refuses to play against India, which is in the same group.

The government allows the team to travel and compete, but it blocks the match with India. Bangladesh decided to leave the tournament because of safety worries. Scotland took Bangladesh’s place.

Officials in Pakistan say relations with India remain very bad and unfair. They say India holds too much power in world cricket. Pakistan also says it wants to support Bangladesh. The ICC asks Pakistan to think again and warns that this decision can hurt cricket in Pakistan and around the world.

Many fans in Pakistan feel unhappy because they love this famous match and want their team to play. This match would bring many people and a lot of money. Sadly, politics now hurts international cricket.

Difficult words: refuse (to say no), tournament (a big sports competition with many matches), relation (the way people or countries feel and act toward each other).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What reason did Bangladesh give for leaving the tournament, and which team took its place?
