Paris AI summit – level 2

14-02-2025 07:00

The UK and the US didn’t sign an AI agreement at a global summit in Paris.

Many countries, like France, China, and India, agreed to make AI development open, fair, and safe. The UK said it didn’t agree with everything in the document and would only support what is best for the country. The meeting focused on making AI safe and easy to use for everyone. India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, said AI is growing fast and can create jobs. He also warned about risks like fake news.

The US Vice President, J.D. Vance, said Europe should be more positive about AI. He wants countries to work together and take the US as a leader in AI. The next AI meeting will be in India.

Difficult words: global summit (a meeting of world leaders or other important people), development (how things grow or change over time), positive (seeing the good in something).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What shared goals were set for AI development, and how do Narendra Modi's and J.D. Vance’s views on AI reveal different priorities regarding its benefits and risks?
