Gambian President Adama Barrow promised to fix the country’s big electricity problems by the end of October 2026. This happened after angry people protested in the streets.

Demonstrators in the capital burned tires and blocked traffic because some areas had no power for two days during very hot weather. Police used tear gas to stop the crowd near the power company building. People are upset because food spoils and businesses cannot work without electricity.

President Barrow called the blackouts a serious emergency. He said the government will finish building a new power machine soon to help homes and businesses. Energy leaders said hot weather and foreign problems caused the power shortages. These protests are important because the country will hold elections in December, and Barrow wants to win again.
