Problems with airdrops to Gaza – level 1

18-03-2024 15:00

People in Gaza need help. Some help comes from planes. Planes drop food and other things to people on the ground. This way of helping is called airdrops.

But airdrops are difficult. It can happen that they hurt or even kill people. Also, someone must deal with the help on the ground. Such help is very expensive, too. But countries still do it. They want to show that they care.

The UN says that airdrops will not stop hunger for 500,000 people. To solve the problem, we need peace and better ways to send help.

Difficult words: drop (to let or make something fall), hunger (feeling or not having enough food), peace (when people or countries do not fight with each other).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What challenges do airdrops present and why are they not a long-term solution for the issue of hunger in Gaza?
