Social media makes Scotland popular – level 1

16-06-2026 15:00

Many people love Scotland. It is very beautiful. People see nice videos from Scotland on social media. They want to go there. This brings a lot of money and jobs. But too many visitors can hurt small places.

Many people come in big cars and campervans. The roads are very small. The traffic is bad. Tourists sometimes leave trash behind. There are no free parking spaces. Also, local people cannot find cheap houses to live in because rich people buy them for holidays.

Now, some big cities are making new rules. They ask tourists to pay a tax when they stay overnight. Internet stars are also trying to help. They do not show quiet, small places to everyone anymore.

Difficult words: campervan (a large vehicle with beds and a kitchen), traffic (cars), trash (what you throw away because you do not need it anymore).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What problems do many visitors cause in small places, and what steps are being taken by big cities and internet stars to help?
