Storm Goretti hits Europe – level 1
13-01-2026 15:00
Strong winds, snow, and cold weather hit western Europe. A big storm causes problems in many places. In England, very strong wind makes the sea dangerous. In France, many homes have no power.
In Germany, snow falls heavily in the north. Schools close, and people stay at home. Roads are not safe, so workers clean them and put salt on them.
Trains run less, and planes are late. Officials tell people to stay safe and travel only a little. The cold weather continues. People must be careful.
Difficult words: cause (to make something happen), power (electricity), plane (a vehicle which flies in the sky and takes people to another place).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What are workers in northern Germany doing to keep roads safe during heavy snowfall?
