The EU taxes cheap parcels from China – level 1

Europe has a new rule for cheap packages from China. People must now pay a 3-euro fee for every item from shops like Shein, Temu, and AliExpress.
In the past, these shops do not pay taxes on things from other countries. This helps them sell clothes and toys for very low prices. But this is not fair for European shops. Too many packages come to Europe, 5.8 billion in 2025.
The fee is for every different thing in the package. If you buy three different types of things, you pay 9 euros. The US also has this fee on cheap things from China. They say that they must help US companies.
Difficult words: package(a thing in a box which comes to your home), fee (money which you must pay for a service), item (one thing or object which is part of a list or a larger group of things).
