The Philippines has little oil – level 1

27-03-2026 15:00

There is a big problem with energy in the Philippines. There is a war far in Iran, and now oil is very expensive. The price of petrol is very high.

It is also hard to buy food like rice. It costs a lot of money to také food from farms to shops. The president says that there is a problem with bringing oil. The country has new rules to save energy. For example, some people only work four days a week. Also, people should walk more and use a lift less.

Many people are sad and angry because they do not have much money. They want the government to help them more.

Difficult words: expensive (when something costs a lot of money), petrol (a fuel which you put in your car to make it go), lift (a machine which takes you up and down between floors of a building).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

How do the new rules aim to save energy through changes in work schedules and daily habits?
