Two Pandas in Finland – level 3

20-02-2018 07:00

At a zoo in central Finland, people unveiled two giant pandas on loan from China, and the pandas seem to be enjoying the local snowy weather.

Hua Bao and Jin Bao have new Finnish names which translate to ‘snow’ and ‘heavy snowfall’. They have been in quarantine for more than a month but they will make their public debut in a few weeks’ time.

Difficult words: on loan (being borrowed), unveil (show the media for the first time), quarantine (a private, isolated area to ensure something is free of disease), public debut (the first time the zoo’s visitors will be able to see the pandas.).
