Vote in Polish parliament – level 2

16-06-2025 07:00

Poland’s Prime Minister Donald Tusk won a vote in parliament. This means many lawmakers still support him. He asked for this vote after Karol Nawrocki became the new president.

The president is from the opposition party. Tusk said his government helps Poland and wants to keep working on his plans.

But the new president can stop new laws, which is a big problem for Tusk. He wants to change many things in the country, but the president can block him. Tusk now needs to find new ways to talk to people and make them support him more.

The European Union likes Tusk and his ideas. They want Poland to follow EU rules. But it will be difficult if the president and prime minister don’t work together.

Difficult words: support (to help or agree with someone), opposition (the group which is not in power), block (to stop something or somebody).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What challenge does Karol Nawrocki’s presidency present to Donald Tusk’s ability to pass new laws?
