World Humanoid Games – level 2
01-09-2025 15:00
Beijing hosted the first World Humanoid Robot Games with teams from 16 countries, including the US, Germany, and Japan.
Robots took part in sports such as running, football, dance, and martial arts. The goal was not just fun but also to test robots’ skills, such as movement, decision-making, and control, which could later help in factories and homes. China wants to become a world leader in humanoid robotics and has a plan to build this industry by 2027.
Although some foreign teams joined, the event was also a way to promote China’s robot industry. Companies invest billions of dollars in robots, but not all of them will succeed. Supporters say making robots look human helps them fit better into daily life, while critics ask why robots must look like people at all.
Difficult words: decision-making (choosing between different options or actions), promote (to advertise or support something), succeed (to do well or win).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
Which skills tested during the competitions are expected to help robots function in factories and homes?
