Jane Goodall dies – level 3

07-10-2025 07:00

Dr. Jane Goodall, the world-renowned primatologist, conservationist, and animal rights advocate, has passed away at the age of 91.

According to the Jane Goodall Institute, she died of natural causes in California while on a speaking tour in the United States.

Goodall revolutionised the scientific understanding of wild chimpanzees and their behavior. Her work not only transformed primate research but also deepened our knowledge of human evolution. She began her studies in Africa at the age of 26, despite having no formal scientific education, and gained the trust of chimpanzees through patience and empathy. Her lifelong mission was to protect nature and inspire global action for the planet. Even in her final days, she remained active, recently giving interviews and public talks.

Jane Goodall’s legacy continues through her institute and her message of hope for a sustainable world.

Difficult words: primatologist (a scientist who studies monkeys and apes), conservationist (a person who works to protect nature, animals, and the environment), revolutionise (to completely change something in a big and important way).
