Jane Goodall dies – level 2

07-10-2025 07:00

Dr Jane Goodall, a British animal expert, died at 91 in California. She was on a speaking tour when she passed away from natural causes.

Goodall became famous for her studies of chimpanzees in Africa. She started her work when she was 26 years old and had no scientific education, but she quickly got the trust of the animals. Her research helped people understand chimpanzees and also humans. Goodall worked all her life to protect animals and nature. She often spoke about hope and caring for the Earth. Before her death, she gave interviews and talks in the US.

Her institute continues her mission of protecting the planet.

Difficult words: natural cause (when someone dies because of illness or age, not by accident or violence), education (studying at school), institute (an organization that does research or education about a special subject).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What mission is carried on by the institute founded by Jane Goodall?
