Germany bank robbery – level 2
05-01-2026 15:00
A large bank robbery happened in western Germany.
Thieves stole cash, gold, and jewelry worth many millions of euros. Police think the robbers used a large drill to break through a basement wall and enter the vault. Firefighters found the damage after a fire alarm rang.
Customers came to the bank very upset and afraid. Most safety boxes were open, and many people feared they would lose more than the bank could give them back. Some jewelry had strong family meaning, such as old coins and rings.
Police say the crime shows strong planning and teamwork. Experts believe the robbers may know the bank systems well. Officers now look at staff and security workers for possible help. No one is under arrest, and police continue their search.
Difficult words: worth (how much money something has), drill (a tool to make holes), vault (a room for money and expensive things).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
Why are officers now focusing on bank staff and security workers as possible accomplices?
