Why people have different skin colors – level 1

29-07-2026 07:00

People have different skin colors because of the sun. In very sunny places, dark skin protects people from strong light. But when people move to places with less sun, dark skin is a problem.

The body needs light from the sun to make vitamin D. Vitamin D gives us strong bones and good health. So, human skin becomes lighter in places with less sun. Some people’s skin can also get darker in summer and lighter in winter.

Today, people travel and live everywhere. Sometimes we need to use sun cream to protect our skin. Sometimes we need to take extra vitamins to be healthy.

Difficult words: protect (to keep safe), bone (the hard parts inside a person’s or animal’s body), human (about people).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
