A boy shoots his teacher – level 1

16-01-2023 15:00

In Virginia, United States, a boy shoots his teacher. The boy is only six years old.

The boy brings the gun to school. The gun belongs to his mother. The boy points the gun at the teacher. He shoots the woman in the hand and chest.

The teacher is in a hospital now. Police say that the shooting is not an accident. The boy wants to hurt the woman.

Laws say that a six-year-old child does not understand what a crime is. The boy is now in custody. Authorities must decide what to do.

The boy is too young to have a trial. He must work with his lawyer. He must know his rights, too.

Authorities will probably accuse his mother of a crime.

Difficult words: in custody (when an authority cares for a child), trial (a formal law event with someone who does something wrong), accuse (to say that someone does something wrong).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
