A couple sells fake Taylor Swift tickets – level 2

14-10-2026 07:00

A couple from Canada went to court after tricking more than 100 people in a big ticket scam. The woman sold fake tickets for a Taylor Swift concert in Toronto and stole 265 thousand dollars.

Many parents bought these tickets as gifts for their children. Some fans found out the tickets were fake right before the show started and cried outside the building. The couple admitted they sold the tickets and said they spent almost 140,000 on online gambling.

Lawyers asked the judge for house arrest instead of real prison time for both of them. Many victims are angry about this deal and want the couple to go to prison. The court will decide on their punishment in December.

Difficult words: scam (a clever idea to trick people out of their money), admit (to agree that something is true or that you did something wrong), punishment (a penalty for someone who breaks a rule or law).
