A couple sells fake Taylor Swift tickets – level 3

14-10-2026 07:00

A couple from Canada, Denise Tisor and David Blake, went to court after scamming over 100 Taylor Swift fans out of 265 thousand dollars.

Tisor sold non-existent tickets for the Eras Tour in Toronto. Many parents bought them as special gifts for their kids, including a sick girl who was seeking relief from medical struggles. Victims only found out the tickets didn’t exist right before the show, and many families were left in tears outside the stadium. Both Tisor and her husband admitted they were guilty. They also confessed to spending nearly 140 thousand dollars of the stolen money on online gambling.

Lawyers are asking the judge to give them house arrest instead of sending them to real prison. However, the victims are angry about this idea and think the couple should go to jail. The court will make a final choice about their punishment in December.

Difficult words: scam (a clever scheme to trick people out of their money), relief (a pleasant feeling when worry, pain, or trouble stops), punishment (a penalty given to someone because they broke a rule or law).
