A man attacks a politician in Australia – level 2
26-10-2026 07:00
An Australian politician named Helen Haines is fighting for her life after a driver deliberately hit her with a car outside her office. She suffered severe injuries, and doctors had to amputate her leg.
A brave local barber stopped the driver and took away a knife he had before police arrested him. Police charged a 43-year-old man in connection with the attack. Australian Prime Minister condemned the attack and asked leaders to stop angry political language across the country. People know Haines as a popular politician who works closely with her local community. This terrible event shocked Australians and raised serious worries about safety for politicians who normally meet people easily in public.
Difficult words: deliberately (done on purpose), amputate (to cut off a part of the body), condemn (to openly say that you disagree with something).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
