A Very Small Chameleon – level 2

10-02-2021 07:00

Scientists in northern Madagascar found a new type of chameleon, and they think that it could be the smallest chameleon in the world.

Scientists only saw two chameleons, one male and one female. It was not possible to say if they really were the smallest chameleons in the world, because they could not compare them to any other chameleons of the same type which could be bigger or even smaller.

People in Madagascar are poor, and they cut down trees to make fields and to keep animals. It is the reason why large areas of rainforest disappeared and many animals, too. Scientists think that they will put this type of chameleon on the list of endangered animals soon.

Difficult words: compare (to look at something and say how similar it is to something else), disappear (when something does not exist anymore or when nobody knows where something is), endangered (when there is danger that a type of animal will not exist anymore).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
