A warehouse makes people angry – level 1

19-02-2024 15:00

Not so long ago, Hooke Close in Corby, UK, is just a normal street. But now, people who live there are angry. Workers are building a warehouse behind their homes.

How can it happen? The council makes a mistake. They speak to people who live in a different street.  The warehouse is 18 meters high. People are upset about it. The warehouse is in a place where a factory is in the past. The construction makes noise. Houses are shaking. People cannot sleep. They worry about losing sunlight and the prices of their homes.

The council says sorry. But it is not enough. People do not want the warehouse in their street. The construction continues.

Difficult words: warehouse (a large building where people store materials and products), council (a group of people who deal with the affairs of a city or town), construction (building something).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What impacts do the construction of the warehouse have on the residents of Hooke Close in Corby, UK?
