Apple says sorry – level 2

14-05-2024 15:00

Apple said sorry for their latest iPad advert. The one-minute video showed a hydraulic press breaking things.

The video wanted to highlight what the new iPad could do, but people didn’t like it. They were upset by it. They thought technologies might take over and stop people from being creative. Even famous people criticized the advert on social media.

Apple’s marketing boss said sorry, and he said that the advert was a mistake. The company’s boss was criticized for his social media post about the advert. Some people in Japan didn’t like it either. They said that it was bad to break things.

Difficult words: advert (a video about a product or service), hydraulic press (a machine which presses things), highlight (to point out).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.

What was the public's reaction to Apple's iPad advert featuring a hydraulic press breaking things, and how did Apple respond to the criticism?
