Doctors in Argentina are warning football fans that watching tense World Cup matches can hurt their hearts.
During the 2026 tournament, Argentina’s team won several games in the last minutes, which made fans very stressed. Cardiologists found that this strong emotion caused a big rise in heart problems. In one region, the number of heart attacks went up from the usual 20 to 35 cases. People went to hospitals with high blood pressure, chest pain, and irregular heartbeats.
Doctors explain that football doesn’t make people sick, but the heavy stress is dangerous for people who already have problems with their heart or illnesses like diabetes. They tell fans to be careful and call for help immediately if they feel bad or cannot breathe normally.
