Bed bugs – level 2
21-07-2025 07:00
Bed bugs are tiny insects that bite people and drink their blood. Only three types bite humans. They are very small and flat, so they can hide in beds, furniture, or walls. They come out at night and use heat and smell to find people.
When bed bugs bite you, you don’t feel them, but they can cause red, itchy skin. Some people don’t feel anything. Bed bugs live together in small groups to stay warm and safe. They can go months without food and sometimes more than a year. People often bring them home without knowing, in bags or clothes.
Many tried many tricks to stop them, like burning beds or using plants. A strong spray called DDT helped for a while, but it was later banned. Now, bed bugs are back and harder to kill. Heat and vacuuming still work well.
Difficult words: itchy (when your skin feels uncomfortable and you want to scratch it), trick (a smart or simple way to solve a problem), vacuuming (using a machine to clean floors).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
Which two cues help bed bugs find people when they come out at night?
