Big Changes in Ford – level 2

30-05-2019 07:00

The Ford Motor Company is planning a big restructuring that will cost the company $11 billion, but it will save it $600 million every year.

Some Ford factories in Europe and Brazil are going to close, and Ford will no longer make some cars. Part of the restructuring is laying off around 10% of workers worldwide. Ten per cent is around 7,000 jobs – around 2,300 of those jobs are in the USA.

Difficult words: restructuring (restructure – organise differently), lay off (tell a worker to stop coming to work because you do not need him or her any more).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
