Big Evacuation in Germany – level 1

07-09-2017 07:00

Britain and Germany fight in the Second World War. Britain drops thousands of bombs on Germany.

People still find the bombs. Some are unexploded. They find a big bomb in Frankfurt, Germany.

The bomb is 1.8 tonnes heavy. People within a 1.5-kilometre radius must evacuate. That is around 60,000 people.

A team of experts defuse the bomb.

Difficult words: unexploded (when something can still explode), radius (a circle around a place), evacuate (move away), defuse (destroy the bomb without exploding it).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
