Boy Joins Pope at Vatican – level 3

07-12-2018 15:00

While the Pope spoke at the Vatican, a six-year old boy named Wenzel came on stage to play, but Pope Francis told his guards to let the boy stay. The boy is mute and could not easily respond to them.

The Pope replied to the audience that though Wenzel could not speak, ‘he does know how to express himself’ and ‘he is free’. His mother eventually took him off-stage, but he had already captured everyone’s hearts. The Pope ended his catechism lesson with a prayer for Wenzel.

Difficult words: mute (a person who is unable to speak with his or her voice), capture hearts (make someone else feel love), catechism (a summary of important parts of Christianity in questions and answers to teach Christians).
