Chelsea Manning was an intelligence analyst for the US army who infamously leaked over 700,000 classified documents, and she served seven years out of a 35-year-sentence.

Recently, she filed her statement of candidacy to run for the US senate in the state of Maryland where she will challenge Senator Ben Cardin. The 30-year-old hopes that her past will not hamper her plans.

Difficult words: intelligence analyst (a person who analyses information to determine what might happen in the future), infamous (be famous for a negative reason), statement of candidacy (when a person announces that he or she will run for a political position), hamper (slow or stop).
