Chicago Teachers Protest – level 1

04-11-2019 07:00

Teachers in Chicago, USA, protest. The protests last one week. The teachers want smaller classes and better money. They say that there must be more staff in schools.

The teachers speak with schools. They want to solve the difficult situation quickly. It is not easy because they have different ideas from schools.

Now, there is a new deal. However, teachers are not happy with it. They do not agree on many things. The biggest problem is money.

The Chicago Mayor says that Chicago does not have enough money for the teachers. Teachers do not believe that. They say that there is money. They say that the city spends it on different things.

Difficult words: staff (all the people who work at one place), deal (a situation when two sides agree on something), Mayor (a person who leads a town or city).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
