Climbers break speed record – level 2
22-04-2025 07:00
Two climbers, Nicolas Hojac and Philipp Brugger, climbed three big mountains in Switzerland very fast. These mountains are the Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau.
The men finished the climb in 15 hours and 30 minutes. The old record was 25 hours, so they were much faster. Hojac said it felt strange to break the record. He thought they would need at least 19 hours, but they were very fast and kept moving. They started at 1 AM and reached the first mountain in less than six hours.
Brugger had health problems before, but he got better and could climb. He said they planned this climb for a long time. He was very happy to finish it with Hojac and set a new record together.
Difficult words: record (the best result ever), strange (unusual), reach (to get to a place).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
How many hours and minutes faster did they complete the climb compared to the old 25‑hour record?
