In the USA, beef production uses more resources and emits more carbon dioxide than other meat production or plant-based foods like rice or potatoes.
People worry that the carbon dioxide is leading to more risks of climate change unless we curb our emissions overall, including curbing beef demand.
People are so worried that American Democratic candidates are thinking about how to work on this problem, even though beef production does not pollute as badly as energy or transportation.
Difficult words: emit (go out into the air), curb (lessen, decrease), emission (a gas that comes out from a plant, an animal, a vehicle, or a building).
