Earthquake in Afghanistan – level 2

03-11-2015 15:00

There was an earthquake in the Hindu Kush mountain range area. It hit Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Tajikistan.

Afghanistan suffered greatly from the earthquake. Over 100 people died, and the number of deaths is expected to grow.

In one of the worst incidents, at least 12 girls died in a stampede to get out of their school.

Difficult words: mountain range (a line of mountains), expect (if you expect something, you think that it is going to happen), stampede (when a group of people suddenly start running in the same direction because they are frightened).

You can read the original story and watch the video in the Level 3 section.

What do you think about this earthquake?
