Ebola in Congo – level 2

11-06-2019 07:00

There is an Ebola outbreak in Congo, and from August 2018 until now, there are more than 2,000 cases of the illness.

This is the second largest outbreak and around 1,300 people are dead so far. The World Health Organisation wants to end the outbreak, but there are problems. Some people do not trust the vaccine, there can be conflicts in some regions and sometimes people attack doctors. Doctors Without Borders had 130 attacks.

Difficult words: outbreak (a sudden large ‘happening’ of an illness), case (a situation when someone has a sickness), illness (a sickness – when bacteria or virus make you feel very bad).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
