Emergency Landing – level 2

09-07-2020 07:00

On Thursday morning, a truck driver was driving on a highway in Louisiana, US. Suddenly, the driver saw a small plane that flew only meters above the truck. He was shocked when the plane landed on the highway before the truck.

The pilot, Howie Guidry, had problems with the engine. The plane was 2,000 feet above the ground when the engine stopped working. Guidry could not return to the airport, and there was no airport nearby.  Guidry had to make an emergency landing. He remembered the advice of his instructor to land on the biggest highway that he could find.

When Guidry landed safely, his mechanic and he quickly pushed the plane off the highway.

Difficult words: emergency landing (when a plane must land, usually because it has a problem or the weather is bad), instructor (a teacher), mechanic (a person who repairs or looks after vehicles and machines).
